On Thursday, April 27th, the Central Region’s Vista Zone of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District hosted a Coding Day here at Heritage Collegiate.<\/p>\n

Students from Anthony Paddon Elementary, Riverside Elementary and Swift Current Academy, as well as, students from our own school participated in the event.<\/p>\n

Students began the day by assembling a Raspberry Pi computer.\u00a0 They then used this computer to complete coding activities using\u00a0a program called Scratch.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>As well, students spent time programming a miniature robot called Ozobot using color codes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The final activity of the day was to program a series of sensors that were connected to the computer using micro controller board called Arduino using S4A (Scratch for Arduino) .<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, each school was given their own kit, which included a Raspberry Pi computer, an Ozobot, Arduino micro controller boards and a sensor kit, to continue to code at their schools.<\/p>\n
